For everyone in Austin that wants a great place to watch the UFC, I want to recommend one place in particular, the newly-opened Third Base sports bar on 6th St. near Mopac. It is located almost right next to El Arroyo downtown. I am not exaggerating when I say it is the newest, and now best, sports bar in Austin.
Besides the nice decor, outdoor seating section, diverse menu, darts, pool, etc. and all of that, the best part of Third Base is the 32 high definition TVs located all around the establishment. Unlike Ringers, where there are a lot of seats where you have to twist around or basically have some lousy viewing angles, virtually all of Third Base has great viewing angles of multiple TVs from the comfort of your seat.
On top of that, Third Base is directly connected to a FREE, 300+ capacity parking garage. If you have ever dealt with the hassle and cost of 4th St. parking to go watch events at Ringers this is a huge plus. Spend your money on drinks, not parking. With the 6th st. location you are still right near 6th St. and the Warehouse District if you want to do your thing downtown before or after the UFC.
The UFC starts at 9PM Texas time Saturday night. Be sure to get there early as Third Base has been able to pack the house on weekend nights in only a few weeks of operation and ZERO advertising – all neighborhood walk-ins and word-of-mouth business.
The owners of Third Base are big, big fans of both UFC and Pride, and want to showcase fighting as one of the things they cover best out of all the sports bars in Austin.
