Hermes holds the rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. He is also a very active MMA/BJJ competitor. He is currently the leading contender for the UFC Lightweight Championship. Besides the UFC, Hermes has fought and won various titles in HooknShoot (World Champion), World Extreme Fighting (World Champion), NAGA Grappling (Champion), and holds a variety of Jiu Jitsu Championships for the Pan-American Games, the Florida Championships, and the Brazilian Nationals.
