TEAM DAMAGE AT CLUB COMBAT

We would like to thank Saul Soliz and everyone who was involved with the event for having us and giving us the in ring experience that West Texas cannot offer. All of the competitors were cool to each other and there was a real sense of competition and comraderie.

Jaime Lara won his match in the first by reverse triangle after two clean takedowns and an awesome high kick. Clint Watts came back from a stunning high kick to win by decisionÿ after delivering shot after shot and in some cases making something out of nothing. Alas, I, Brad Barnes made one mistake too many. After dominating the first round I went to do the exact same thing and got stunned by a right hook to the temple and recovered, but ended up side mounted. as I got to my knees and went to drive him into the cage,ÿ he used my forward momentum and got my back and flattened me out. I tapped after taking about 10/12 shots to the back of the old dome. I figuredÿ “tap now, dame bramage later”.

But just as Clint and Jaime learned from their matches, I learned just as much if not more. the main thing we learned is that the level of competition in this area is awesome, and invite everyone out to West Texas to train with us. If anyone is interested in that or opening a real bjj/mma school (closest one is pittman’s 2 hours away), email Brad at bradmzn@aol.com .
